Purple Due North Luggage Tag
The purple “Due North” tag is reminiscent of a vintage compass, a classic symbol of travel through the centuries. I use a diamond shaped stamp to create diamonds on the front and back of this designer luggage tag. “Block dying” is the technique used on this tag to produce a range of purple shades. A square of fabric is wrapped around a piece of wood and rubbed over the tag, depositing varying amounts of dye and giving the leather a variety of tones, making each “Due North”, like all TAGSMITH tags, one-of-a-kind. Only one side of each piece of leather is dyed, while the flip side and the edges are left natural. The edges are burnished until smooth.
