Product Description

This stunning tag is saddle stamped with a big heavy tool, both front and back, one hammer strike at a time, leaving deep, natural-colored arches in contrast to the block dyed surface. Each tag is hand dyed with a piece of cloth wrapped around a block of wood, hence the term “block dyed”. Skilled block dying gives incredible shades and hues to the leather, while accenting the tooling, making each tag unique. The back and sides of the leather are left the natural color, giving a nice contrast. The edges of the strap and tag are burnished to a slick golden brown. The strong and bold markings of this design remind me of horse hooves, but everyone sees it as something different. So feel free to come up with your own interpretation. It’s a luggage tag and a Rorschach test.
